#DOTA2 | That's it, we're going to the @GESChampionship Thailand Minor! 🇹🇭Perfect start to the mother of all qualifying weeks. GGs to @TNCProTeam. 🤝 pic.twitter.com/RMbzvZkBbh— FNATIC (@FNATIC) 20 April 2018

Fnatic win GESC Thailand Regionals they were initially not invited to

SEA as a region is proving itself incredibly competitive in the second half of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit, and two teams who are direct rivals looking to break into the top 8 are Int Fnatic and ph TNC Predator. The two teams currently sit at 11th and 12th in the DPC Leaderboards, with Fnatic clearly in the lead with 952.5 points compared to TNC's 495 points.

Fnatic's improved results following the addition of us Saahil 'Universe' Arora have seen them place top 4 in three of their last four DPC competitions, including 3rd-4th at the Starladder Minor last weekend despite competing with coach my Adam Erwann 'Adam' Shah as a temporary replacement for se Johan 'pieliedie' Åström. Pieliedie was back in action for Fnatic in the GESC Thailand qualifiers, and was part of the team's swift victory in the single-elim 6-team playoffs.

However, the GESC Thailand Regionals was initially planned to feature only four teams and Fnatic was not one of them. This was the cause for Fnatic captain ca Jacky 'EternaLEnVy' Mao's outburst on Twitter, who claimed it was part of a "bullshit scheme".

GESC later revised their Regional format and increased the number of invited teams from 4 to 6, and named Fnatic among the participants. They also postponed the Regional Qualifiers by one month in order to make room for Fnatic to compete, a decision which later led to Mineski withdrawing from the Regionals all together in order to "stand up against biased organisers".

TNC suffer 3-1 defeat to Fnatic and could face them twice more

It is therefore, rather ironic that Fnatic have gone on to win the entire GESC Thailand Regionals, especially as they were seeded straight into the semi-finals. ph TNC Predator, who were another team unhappy about the changes to the Regionals ended up facing Fnatic in the Grand Finals and lost 3-1, an unfortunate series of events for them.

Although TNC and Fnatic could well meet again very soon in the Grand Finals of the MDL Changsha Major AND ESL One Birmingham Major Regionals, as both teams are into the semi-finals of both qualifiers.
