There was some surprising news on Thursday - one of the most well-known organizations in Dota 2 history have partnered with a French football club. In the news mostly for acquiring hugely expensive players such as Neymar or Mbappé, French powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain are now making a move into Dota 2 - although this is not their first step into esports.
The failed League of Legends team
Along with several other major football clubs who have begun taking a keen interest in esports, PSG already house FIFA pro players, given that esport is a logical choice. However, that is not their only foray into esports so far.
Alongside Schalke 04 Esports, they tried to build a League of Legends squad to compete in the EU LCS. Led by veterans of the scene, they started in the Challenger Series and didn't quite succeed in earning promotion. After two failed splits, they decided to take a step back from League of Legends.
PSG.LGD from now on

« @LGDgaming has a long history of winning on @DOTA2, attending every #TheInternational tournament since they entered the scene. We’re glad to welcome them as our partners ! »

Those who are used to seeing LGD as part of the Dota 2 community needn't be afraid - PSG is not buying the team, simply partnering with it. Maybe and his mates will wear new colours from now on, donning the iconic jersey of the French football club.
