OG crush DAC European qualifier

posted by Abelle,
eu OG are back? Their recent performance in the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018 would certainly seem to suggest that the once-greatest team in European Dota could be on the rise again, just in time for the road to TI8.
Qualified for the DAC. Shanghai, we're on our way. 🇨🇳 #DreamOG— OG (@OGDota2) February 9, 2018

OG haven't made it to a whole lot of events compared to regional rivals eu Team Liquid or eu Team Secret but they've done quite well at the few events they have made it to. Their first was the AMD Sapphire Dota Pit Minor, where they came 5th/6th, but they followed that with an impressive 1st place at the Mars Media Dota 2 League: Macau Minor.

They've had two more Top 4 finishes since then, at DOTA Summit 8 and Captains Draft Season 4. This gave them a solid 630 Qualifying which puts them in 9th place on the QP ranking at the moment.

OG haven't reached a place where tournament organizers are going to invite them (especially with Secret and Liquid overshadowing them in the region) but they are doing consistently well in qualifiers. Most recently they qualified for two more Majors - ESL One Katowice 2018 and The Bucharest Major 2018. Now they've added DAC to that list.

Their performance in this qualifier was particularly impressive thanks to the fact that they didn't drop a single game in the qualifier. Every one of their victories was a 2-0, including the Grand Final against se The Final Tribe.

The Grand Final matchup was a rematch of the Semifinal round, and Final Tribe tried to pull a fast one on OG with a Huskar and Oracle in Game 1 but a last-pick Sniper for Johan 'BigDaddyN0tail' Sundstein plus Roman 'Resolut1on' Fominok's double Butterfly pickup made the hero look like paper.

With the European DAC qualifier concluded, only CIS remains to be decided. Matches will start today (Feb 10) and run through Feb 13.
