Team Secret faced what was theoretically their toughest competition yet in a Qualifier Grand Final - OG. The multi-Major winners proved to be no match for the new Qualifier Kings of Europe.
The final was a best-of-three, and Team Secret took the victory in a 2-0. This was not only their third Qualifier victory but also the third time they took such a victory in a sweep.
Game 1
In Game 1, Secret dominated right out of the gate. Clement 'Puppey' Ivanov took the reigns of his signature Chen, seemingly striving to prove us wrong by single-handedly bringing the hero back into the meta.
Adrian 'Fata' Trinks played the ever-present Necrophos, while Yeik Nai 'MidOne' Zheng provided the Sunstrikes to finish off his Reaper's Scythed targets. It wasn't a quick win, thanks to OG's ability to clear waves and push lanes with Roman 'Resolut1on' Fominok's Lina and Johan 'BigDaddyN0tail' Sundstein's Terrorblade, but the game was secured after 43 minutes.
Game 2
OG took a slight net worth lead early on in Game 2 thanks to Resolut1on's Alchemist. They had last-picked the hero, perhaps thinking they could out-lategame Secret, who had picked Anti-Mage fourth. However, Secret's mid to lategame aggression with an incredibly agile set of core heroes (Puck and Queen of Pain in addition to the AM) were just too hard to catch for OG's lineup, which lacked any kind of instant disable outside of Reaper's Scythe.
With this win, Secret are the final team to qualify for the StarLadder i-League Minor in Kiev. They'll join direct invites Team Liquid and Newbee, as well as qualifier squads Natus Vincere, compLexity Gaming, SG e-sports, Vici Gaming and Mineski at the LAN event Oct 12-15 to fight for a piece of the $300,000 prize pool and the first of many Qualifying Points to be awarded this competitive season.
