The exciting Grand Finals of DotaPit between OG and Evil Geniuses ended up being a mixed bag after a massive delay forced the teams to battle until the early hours of the morning.

After a marathon of a Grand Finals that ended up lasting over 8 hours us Evil Geniuses conquered their OG demons for the second time at the DotaPit Season 5 LAN Finals to win 3-2. The tournament was plagued by delays on the opening two days but suffered the worst in the Grand Finals when server issues caused a 2 and a half hour delay between games 1 and 2. OG at that point had just claimed a strong first game thanks to au Anathan 'ana' Pham's Alchemist enabled beautifully by the Atrophy Aura of se Gustav 's4' Magnusson's Underlord.

After an incredibly long delay while the organisers tried different servers at random in a hope of fixing the lag issues play eventually resumed, and the two teams managed to put on a show despite games 4 and 5 being played after midnight. The Grand Finals finally ended at 3:30am local time and as time went on Evil Geniuses were increasing in strength and came back from 1-2 down to win 3-2.

Although the conditions for the tournament were far from ideal in terms of gameplay the DotaPit Season 5 Grand Finals were highly entertaining and would be worth rewatching in your own time. The top 2 placement for both teams would almost certainly ensure a direct invite to the Kiev Major, and Evil Geniuses captain dk Andreas 'Cr1t-' Nielsen said the team plans to take a break for a month before their bootcamp in March for DAC and the Major.

Final Standings
The big surprises of DotaPit were world Team Faceless* and cn Invictus Gaming, who both finished in the top 4. Invictus Gaming were on a 10 game unbeaten run prior to the tournament and their flexibility in the draft by using Weaver both as a support for cn Ye 'BoBoKa' Zhibiao or a carry for cn Xu 'BurNIng' Zhilei gave them an edge. Weaver was one of the most played heroes of the Dota Pit Season 5 LAN Finals, with 6 of the eight teams using him at least once.

For world Team Faceless* their 3rd place in Croatia is their best LAN result to date after finishing outside of the top 6 at Summit 6 and the Boston Major last season. Their showing at DotaPit is a great start to the year and a huge step towards an invite to the Kiev Major if they can take the SEA qualifier slot and perform at the SL i-League StarSeries 3 LAN next month. Faceless were also responsible for eliminating world Planet Odd* in the first round of the lower-bracket.
