The NVIDIA Game 24 DOTA2 Invitational has ended after much hype and jubiliation as Cloud9 are crowned champions. They might have got roughed up in game one with Pajkatt's Slark having a field day on their line-up but Cloud9 - in particular FATA- and EternalEnvy, got into their groove in the following games to triumph in a 3-1 victory worth $7,000. Cloud9 NVIDIA GAME24 Champions

The NVIDIA GAME24 DOTA2 Invitational featured four teams; Cloud9, Team EG, Alliance and Team Tinker, who faced off in a single elimination best-of-5 format to compete for their share of $15,000.

The Invitational was part of a 24-hour gaming marathon organised by NVIDIA, and coincided with PC Gaming events around the globe. Cloud9 leave with $7,000 and more importantly a 1st place, with the added bonus of eliminating their long-time rival Team Evil Geniuses 3-1 in the semi-finals on their road to the Grand Finals.

Aui's BLackhole was just one of Cloud9's game changing moves

The tournament produced some amazing games, in particular game four and five of Team Tinker against Alliance in the first round of the semi-finals, as well as an incredible tri-lane strat of Dazzle, Axe and Tusk in game three of the Grand Finals.

Team Tinker had earned their place in the finals after coming back from 0-2 down to defeat Alliance 3-2, with some a 17-2-16 Tinker for qjoqva in Game four, and a devilish 18-3-13 Ember Spirit for SingSing in Game 5 - who finished the game with two Divine Rapiers, Two Daedelus', a BattleFury and BoTs. Despite Alliance using a stand-in after being a man down due to the absence of Akke, Team Tinker's victory was still impressive and further cemented their potential to be a major player in the months to come.

Cloud9's disposal of Team EG was clinical. After a 36 minute opening game that saw Team EG take the first game thanks to an Arteezy Death Prophet, Cloud9 wiped Team EG off the stage like sand in game two and three, with both games combined only taking 20 minutes to finish. The final game witnessed EternalEnvy on the Tinker and Fata on the Brewmaster, who together managed to rack up 31 kills, 8 deaths and 33 assists.

The Grand Final started off poorly for Cloud9 after leaving too much space for Pajkatt's Slark to farm up. after picking up a couple of solo kills on Aui at the beginning, Pajkatt just went from strength to strength, similar to his game as Nature's Prophet versus Alliance. Cloud9 had managed to contain SingSing's Death Prophet, a hero that EG had caused them trouble with in the semi-finals, but with Pajkatt on the loose, nobody was safe.

Cloud9 bounced back to take the remaining three games in a row with FATA- playing an instrumental role in their success. Cloud9 once in gear were just unplayable, especially in game three where what looked like a terrible draft ended up destroying Team Tinker. Given their consistency since TI4 Cloud9's metamorphosis is definitely complete and they were well deserving of the NVIDIA GAME 24 Invitational title.
