Over the course of the last three weeks we saw 5 teams from Group 1 of The Dota 2 Super League battle it out for their place in the playoffs, with it coming down to the wire in order to detrermine who will get eliminated and who will move on as second and third place finishers in the group.

Group 2 has already kicked off earlier with world LGD.Int defeating cn RattleSnake 2-1 on the 22nd of May. The rest of the games from Group 2 will be played in the coming two weeks, with the next game being between LGD.Int and cn DK, to be played on June 1st at 8:00 CEST.

The road had been tough for all participants; Group 1 had many upsets and caused much discussion surrounding the Chinese Dota2 scene. The league's first game had cn ViCi Gaming go against cn LGD.cn, in which ViCi won 2-0, that being said, LGD.cn were still in a bit of an adjusting period after changing their rosted and welcoming back cn Xie "DD" Bin. ViCi Gaming then went on to defeat cn For.Love only to get stopped in their tracks by cn Invictus Gaming, who at that time were still regarded as invincible.

With all eyes on them, the unbeatable team started to show some cracks, as they suffered their first loss in 6 months to cn TongFu. Many were willing to overlook this defeat at the hands of TongFu, who had quickly come to be regarded as one of the strongest teams currently in China, however, this marked the beginning of iG's losing streak that continued through the G1-League. TongFu on the other hand showed that they were worthy of their The International invite, as they finished with the best result in their groupstage, losing only to LGD.cn in a nailbiting 2-1 score series.

Yesterday, iG were able to convincingly defeat For.Love, who have generally failed to impress during the D2SL as they lost all their matches without picking up a single game win. This put LGD.cn's future into contention, as in order to stay in the competition and evade elimination they would have to take at least one map from iG in today's game.

Rising to the challenge, LGD.Cn finally defeated iG 2-0 today, making use of Chaos Knight and Wisp in both games as well as spicing it up with a Slark in the second game, completing a lineup which reminded a lot of us Team Liquid in their victory against iG at G-1. With this victory, LGD.Cn claim the second place of the group after TongFu, with iG coming in third due to their head-to-head match against VG. This means that LGD.Cn and iG will have to play the third and second place finishers respectively from Group 2 in the quarter-finals, in order to determine which teams move on to face TongFu as well as the winner of Group 2 in the semi-finals.

ViCi Gaming and For.Love, the 4th and 5th place finishers, will have to play relegation matches to determine their participation in the future events. This is also a tough fate for VG, who've consistently been just short, falling out in the quarter-finals of the G-League, failing to reach the G-1 LAN Finals as well as coming in third in the Eastern Qualifiers for the International.
