StarLadder LAN Finals teams decided

posted by Tigrish, 1 year ago
With the last online matches for StarLadder Star Series Season IV played today, there is now a confirmed list of teams which will be battling it out at the offline finals in Kiev's Cybersport Arena from the 20th to the 23rd of December.

Some of you will be disappointed to hear that neither se No Tidehunter nor de Mousesports managed to conquer a place in the finals, however, the abundance of strong teams present should make for an entertaining finals! For example ru Virtus.Pro have been on fire lately with a winning streak of no less than 20 games, in addition eu Fnatic.Eu recently managed to snag their first Dota 2 LAN victory in the THOR Open tournament.

Teams that will be forced to drop down into the Pro Series next season include ua Illuminate and the disbanded se FUBAR who were merged into se Svenhunterz. The Pro Series finals tomorrow will determine who will get to join Star Series next season, with the THOR Open third place finishers se 4 Friends + Chrillee among the teams competing. Both ru XX5 and se Pulse eSports will have to prove their worth to remain within the Star Series. Pulse in particular has been playing with a lot of stand-ins lately and this may yet prove problematic for them in the future.

Prizepool distribution:

1st place – $8000
2nd place – $4000
3rd place – $2000
4th place – $1000

Sad to see that some good teams will not participate, but still great finals.

Hope that next season maybe they do it with 8 teams in the lan finals.

Hope empire wins but damn VP looking sooooo good lately, makes me sad we didnt get to see them at DH. Never the less i hope na'vi doesnt win, its just embarassing to other teams when they win tournaments after months with barely any practice against active teams.

last time they were with 8 it failed cuz many teams cancelled, so i'd rather have top 4 that actually show than top 8 getting invited and then nr's 1-4 and some leftovers getting in.
more OT: if Na'VIi plays like they did @DH, I can see every final happening, gonna be a nice event!
