Dota 2 players and personalities get involved with the project
Diabotical, which has been in the works for literally years, is an FPS Arena game which is 2GD's brandchild, a former professional FPS player himself for Quake 3 and Quake 4 back in the day. The GD Studio hosted an official kickstarter launch stream earlier to announce the launch of their page, which hopes to receive £110,000 in crowdfunding, approximately $145,000.
Many well-known faces in Dota 2 and eSports in general are part of rewards for users who pledge over a certain amount. Double Major winners Johan 'BigDaddyN0tail' Sundstein and Tal 'Fly' Aizik offered to hang out and play online for 2 hours with whoever contributed £500 ($660) - you can even bring your friends.
Other well known faces in the reward scheme are Team Liquid's Jesse 'JerAx' Vainikka and Lasse 'Matumbaman' Urpalainen, Valve's Bruno Carlucci, Sheever, Pyrion_Flax, ODPixel. For a £700 pledge($926) you can even play for 2 hours with the whole of Team Secret. Although 2GD pointed out that the rewards would obviously be unredeemable during The International.
So far in just four hours over $35,000 of the $145,000 has been raised and 2GD explained on stream they are aiming for a Summer 2017 release if all goes well with the Kickstarter. To learn more about the rewards and the Kickstarter head over to the official page.
If you don't want to pledge you can still enjoy the video above, which features lots of amusing references to 2GD's role at the Shanghai Major.
