Storm Games Clan disbands

posted by Blue_Knight, 1 year ago
Although reforming earlier this year and reuniting with their sponsor, the Czech/Slovakian squad of cz Storm Games Clan once again will go their separate ways, but only after seeing out their remaining fixtures.

SGC during The International 2011

Team captain cz Petr 'craNich' Meluzin spoke to joinDOTA briefly to shed some light on the dissolution of the team:
Due to the lack of time of a few players and other issues our team has disbanded. In upcoming weeks we will just finish the last two Czech/Slovakian tournaments. We would like to thank our manager Thon_Mayo, our fans, our sponsor Razer and SGC for supporting us."

Whether or not any of the individual players go on to join new teams or the SGC organisation picks up a new team, remains to be seen.

I always liked em, and I think their individual skill is enough to chalenge any top team in the scene, but they never really got into a good form as a team

This is a shame. SGC were actually very good, imo they had the potential to be a top team.

Meh, the game is still young and people/teams are still trying to figure things out. It's been extremely volatile since the release, with the exception being Na'vi.

I think that it has a lot to do with high pressure tournaments like TI2. You have a lot of spread in talent level, and when you go up against extremely well composed Chinese teams and experienced teams like Na'vi I think there is a lot of breakdown in communication and teamwork, and players snap at each other due to the stress which is what's stated as many of the reasons of teams disbanding.

Also a lot of players are getting older and have to think about what they're going to do after Esports, like Maelk who can't keep playing dota into his late 30's.. You can only live off a meager team salary and streaming income for so long.
