The ESWC North American qualifiers run by the third party organisation ESSagency have decided to disqualify one of the largest American gaming houses Evil Geniuses due to the use of their captain dk Jacob 'Maelk' Toft-Andersen which breached the region lock on players. ESS notified us Evil Geniuses by email with the following statment:

Due to your teams decision to use an ineligible player (Maelk) in your match last evening and despite multiple warnings specifically stating that it is impermissible to use a European player in this qualifier, we have been forced to disqualify your team from the tournament and overturn the result. Happy Cloud will be awarded a 2-0 victory and your team will be eliminated from the tournament effective immediately.

During the qualifier yesterday us Quantic Gaming were forced to modify their roster having their Swedish player se Sebastian 'Matrim' Sundström sit on the sidelines to comply with the ESWC rule stated below:

To enter and be eligible to participate in the Tournament, you must meet the following requirements. The Tournament is open to legal residents of the United States of America and Canada who have reached the age of majority in their country and state or province of residence.

joinDOTA contacted Evil Geniuses for a statment regrading the decision with their General Manager us Cody 'evoli' Conners providing the following:

We are frustrated that we've been disqualified from the North American ESWC qualifier while other teams with international lineups will be able to compete in the Grand Finals. I think that we have one of the strongest rosters in the world, and we are really disappointed that we can't compete in such an important and prestigous event.

The decision looks to be set in stone but if there are any more updates we will keep you up to date right here at joinDOTA. You can also find the revised tournament grid below:
