Ad Finem completes lineup of participating teams
It was announced that Fnatic rejected their participation in the event although they won the SEA qualifiers. Naturally, their spot then falls to the runner-up, Mineski. Unfortunately, the SEA region will not be fielding any teams this time as the the Filipino team faced problems obtaining their visas.
After much discussion, the organisers announced that Ad Finem, the team that has been garnering more and more attention recently, will be the final team to complete the lineup.
Groups and Format announced
With the teams finalised, the groups were finally decided. The Group Stage will be played in a double elimination best-of-one format, with the first games for each team being a best-of-three.
The one day Group Stage will end with the top two teams of each group progressing to the winners' bracket of the Playoffs whereas the remaining teams will begin their fight from the losers' bracket. During the Playoffs, all games will be played in a best-of-three format with the grand finals being a best-of-five.
With more than $100,000 prize money for the champions, teams will definitely be giving their all. Also worthy to note that this tournament will be the first tournament that TI5 champions Evil Geniuses will be participating in with their new roster.
