aL AbsoluteArena King of the Hill returns

posted by Kaelarok, 286 days ago
A month ago, ru Moscow Five won the first stage of au Absolute Legends' first AbsoluteArena: King of the hill, complications interfered with the competition. Now, the tournament series will be returning on Friday, 10th of August, with two brand new teams ready to battle it out in a best of five matches for King's bounty of at least $100, growing exponentially for each consecutive win.

The first battle saw ru Moscow Five defeat kz NEXT.kz with three consecutive victories, claiming the title of King. Unfortunately, reigning champions M5 rushed off to prepare and compete at the Star Ladder Finals. Following this, they have begun practicing as a team and were unable to come back to face the next competitor. As such, two new teams, au Absolute Legends and us POTM Bottom head to the battleground, with the tournament series rebooting anew.

The tournament series follows a "King of the Hill" format where each winner of a best of five secures themselves $100 and the title 'King of the Hill'. Each following week, should the reigning champions secrure victory over another challenger the prize money increases by $100 and is added to the pool until they have won five in a row. In this case, they retire undefeated and the tournament resets with new teams.

This series restarts on Friday the 10th of August at 20:00 CEST, where au Absolute Legends and us POTM Bottom go head to head to become King of the hill .

preparing for TI2 probably. but yea still kind of silly, it's one (one!) bo5 series, not more and they could win some "easy" money.

I like recreating because no M5 nor Next.kz looks like 'King of the Hill'. PB do, even aL do, but not M5. They just doesn't deserve handling such title.
BTW, too many applicants and just 1 slot. How do they choose contender?

Knowing M5's past antics, they probably just couldn't be arsed to do it. But preparing for TI2 is a convenient excuse.

They probably chose the aL team just out of convenience since the aL organization is sponsoring this, but probably also because people keep foolishly underestimating aL's caliber as a team and aL might feel like they have something to prove. And then PB because they have burst to the front of the scene in the past few weeks and people are really eager to see more of them. So given that PB is on a domination streak, if aL were to bring them down it would really shut all the aL haters up.

aL, pls.

Yeah, yeah. It's obvious, POTM won Prodota and proofed their skill, aL organizes this tournament. But how will they choose the next one? mTw, Mouz, Na'Vi, CLG, they all deserve it. And I didn't mentioned Asian and American teams.

Uhh I dunno, it might just be random like drawing from a hat or something. Or maybe just teams that people WANT to see playing--big name teams like the ones you mentioned come to mind (even though I don't think mouz is on the same level as the other 3), but also some of the dark horses like C.Wolves, Fnatic, or Infused might have a shot. It's an innovative competition format though so regardless it should draw some eyes.

We're either going to hand-pick them for the most 'interesting' match-ups we can get or have a vote up on our Facebook page.
