WCG Asian Championship returns
posted by Jaywalker, 329 days ago

Following last year's success, WCG Asian Championship will feature Dota 2 again, and this time it will be held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Malaysia.
The event will take place on the 8th and 9th of September. 13 teams will participate in the tournament, qualifying through their respective WCG national qualifiers.

Last year's event was held in Indonesia and saw
MUFC defeating the likes of
Mineski.PC and
EHOME en route to securing both the DotA and Dota 2 championships. As the defending champion, they will automatically qualify for the event. Another Malaysian team will join them through the WCG Malaysia national qualifier.joinDOTA will of course cover the event live and you can expect the best matches to be broadcasted by Tobi Wan from the studio.

Tobi Wan will broadcast all major matches!
WCG Asian Championship 2012 will feature $3,000 for the champions, $2,000 for second, and $1,000 for third.

The prize money seems kinda underwhelming considering it's a LAN tournament.

Why the prize money is that low? How can that prize justify the travel investment for teams in countries like China, Philippines and so on?

cause teams dont give a fuck about prize money
It is all about exposure, if you think teams depend on price money you have no clue about teams

So aren't they professional players and they get paid because of that?? Do you really think exposure is that important after TI?? Paid them more, pro players deserve it and after all gaming is a business

Its only a qualifying tourney to represent MALAYSIA at World Cyber Games. Its only for Malaysian team. I bet you a lot of team will join especially the one who win the JD match.
