WCG confirms Dota 2 Tournament

posted by Roegnvaldr, 336 days ago
As the famous games trade fair gamescom approaches, so does a new Dota 2 tournament under the banner of the World Cyber Games, of which part of it will take place during gamescom. The competition will have a German qualifier for the event followed by a European competition with 8 teams.

The German qualifier will happen during the Germany National Finals on the 16th of August. The winner of this competition will be able to play at the European competition, which will be called Samsung European Encounter (SEE). It will take place during gamescom, from the 17th until the 19th of August. SEE will invite 7 other European teams for a major competition. The total prize pool (including from tournaments of other disciplines) totals €10.000 in cash and around €10.000 in hardware.

It is important to note that the winner of the German qualifier will not only be able to participate on the SEE competition, but the team will also head to the WCG Finals in China.

Further information coming soon.

There are like 3 decent german players in general, I don't see any way to get proper teams together. Plus the prize pool is a joke, just not worth the hassle.

http://www.wcg-europe.com/de/tourney.htm?id=467 it requires german players, not entire german team, if someone could translate that, would be much more clarifying

It states basically, that is not required, that the team is purely German. However, the majority of the team needs to be German, ergo at least 3 players.

With this requirements, the two prime organisations Mouz and mTw are not able to join the competition. I would say, that Übelst gaming has the best shot here.

@ #11: It sayes that there is a 51% rule were 51% of the team MUST been germans witch means: 3 Germans and rest other nations
(I life in germany just to say that xD)

#12 still teams like mtw or mouz are able to participate in SEE since there are 7 invited so i would guess that tournament will be: German qualifier team, mouz, mtw, na'vi,darer,m5,clg and wolves/next kz maybe, but still if this rules applies to all national qualifiers, I think wcg will be a disappointment

Well, Na'Vi too won't be able to participate I guess, because there are 2 Russians, 2 Ukrainians and 1 Estonian in their team.(If the same rule will apply for the Russia/Eastern Europe qualifiers)

i think valve paid Riot gaming more money than the price money that is being handed out the the winner to make dota 2 the official game of WCG, which if u ask me is retarded.

seria bueno que esto sea mundial en el sentido de que ejemplo en mi pais (chile) tambien lo incluyeran ya que tambien hay muchos team chilenos que encantados preferirian dota 2 antes q dota 1 pero en fin .
