Weekly Top 5: Tobi, GoDz, Ayesee, Triumph

posted by Jaywalker, 346 days ago

joinDOTA: Weekly Top 5 returns this week with five more brand new epic games that promises to satisfy.

Today will feature au Tobi 'TobiWanKenobi' Dawson, au David 'GoDz' Parker, us Aaron 'Ayesee' Chambers, and special guest au David 'TriumphOfMan' Rutter. Both us David 'Luminous' Zhang, us Kevin 'Purge' Godec decided not to participate this week, hopefully next week they'll have some epic games to share!

For this edition, we gathered the best games from 28/5/2012 to 3/6/2012. The casters have chosen their own game deem worthy to be a top five, and each provided a comment on their selection.

Also, we stumbled across this and will remain mesmerized forever.

A slow week in Dota 2 as far as epic moves go, one which gave me many reasons to smile all night long was CLG vs mouz in the ProDOTA2 world League. There are just some plays that happen where you can't help but piss yourself laughing.

LGD vs EHOME

GoDz

This week was going to be hard. So many amazing playoffs games in the Gigabyte Dota Masters with iG/DK, AL/MUFC, and Tongfu/Zenith... But this game just blew everything away. Love it. Hate it. It’s Chinese Dota.

Ayesee

Sometimes a game or series is so weird, you can confidently say “I'll never forget that.” Then, sometimes, you have a Game 3 in a Bo3 with Batrider, Silencer, and Nature's Prophet all on the same team. Oh, and sometimes that Game 3 just so happens to feature one of the more impressive late-game comebacks you've ever seen. In this VOD, upstart team POTM Bottom took on TI2 invitee M5 in our Monthly Madness Round of 8. Moscow 5, after having a Game 1 forfeit declared against them and showing up less than 60 seconds before the full walkover was declared, pushed the series to its limit and showed why Dota is all about creativity and the unexpected.

Evil Geniuses vs mTw

Ayesee

This game was played during a very stressful time for most professional Dota 2 teams-- only a handful of invitations to The International II remained, and every game/series took on the importance of a “resume' showing” that may or may not earn a team their way to Seattle. EG had already received their invite, and mTw was considered by many to be at the top of list of contenders for the remaining slots. All of this played a part in their match-up in Monthly Madness II's Ro8 best of three being one of the most memorable and jaw dropping back-and-forth battles seen so far. The teams split Game 1 and Game 2, forcing a decisive Game 3... a Game 3 that would show us one of the most violent and impressive swings of momentum and gold I've ever seen. This game isn't to be missed, especially by fans who enjoy seeing Invoker, Dark Seer, and Dragon Knight all occupy the field at once.

MUFC vs Zenith

Triumph

Some mind games are played during the picking phase with counter picks getting countered by their intended target, reminding us that Dota isn't just about the heroes you pick but where you place them and how you utilise them. Some slightly refreshing use of both conventional and non conventional heroes just goes to show that Zenith and MUFC are two of the best in Asia for a reason.

That concludes joinDOTA's Weekly Top 5, we will return with more next Monday. Let us know your thoughts below!

Because we want English casters only as majority of readers here are English speaking, and we are an English language site. It doesn't make sense to feature v1lat's VODs as they're in Russian and Starladder matches are mostly covered in English by Purge/GoDz/Sheever. Maybe something can be worked out in the future.

It's more interesting watching v1lat bring the hype than purge saying everything in a monotone voice

Do the own3d VODs have shit quality for everyone else? Even with "HD" on they are nothing close to how good it looks like for Monthly Madness.
