Update: the co-casters for the event have been confirmed!

GamerUniversity.com and FireFlash have partnered up to launch the first of eight Open Series tournaments, in which 32 teams will do battle for a $150 prize and their place in the eventual Invitational Series.

Twelve teams have signed up for the first Open Series, and amongst them are fan-favourites such as us Quantic Gaming, us Complexity Gaming and se Team Infused.

The first Open Series will be a best-of-one single elimination contest, with the format expanding to best-of-three clashes for the Semi and Grand Finals. A seeding system has been touted to ensure that heavyweight teams avoid each other in the early rounds, but it has not yet been confirmed.

The winners will receive $150 and lay claim to the first spot in the Invitational Series, where they will eventually go head-to-head with the winners of the seven other Open Series qualifiers for the $10,000 grand prize.

The action gets underway this Saturday, June 2nd at 13:00 Eastern Standard Time (19:00 CET), with FireFlash set to shoutcast all of it live, along with us Draskyl and - potentially - our very own au TobiWan too.

Sign up information is available below.

You should read the whole post instead of reading the title only. Sometimes, you can find the information you are looking for.

That's exactly what people said about Ayesee and Draskyl and now they are "loved" by the community. Give people a chance before complaining please.

You may want to add Team Empire, Mouz and Keita as "fan-favorites".

Nice tournament overall.

Just to give some insight to the community on who I am, I have been It's Gosu's assistant manager for almost 3 years for Starcraft 2 even before we were It's GoSu and known as All 4 ONE Gaming, and in that time I have organized and casted over 50 events including King of The Hills, Invitational, showmatches, and Open Tournaments. My Co-Casters and partners for the tournament have all been involved in the DotA 2 scene casting for quite some time and you guys will not be dissapointed!
