After a weekend of fierce competition, in which 350 teams (amateur, upcoming and professional alike) participated, the brand new us Quantic Gaming - winners of joinDOTA Masters II and VI - took down their predecessors, the ex-Quantic team now known as dk DD., in the best-of-three Grand Final to claim the first ever joinDOTA Open title. Summaries of the games are available below.

In the first game, Quantic aimed to empower themselves through stacking the passive auras of Shadow Fiend, Vengeful Spirit and Beastmaster. DD., on the other hand, employed an aggressive style from the outset with four of their heroes (including an offensive from playing in the opposition jungle), while their Broodmother was left to his own devices to farm and push on the bottom lane.

DD.'s top lane of Mirana and Earthshaker, with Enchantress in the woods, secured a very early first blood for the team. With the trio gaining another two kills only minutes later when they dived the tower, where dk Ryze expertly used his Echantress' creeps to tank the damage, the momentum went with DD., and it was never relinquished.

By the 10th minute, they had a 5000 gold and 2000 experience advantage over Quantic. In the 15th minute, DD. built on the progress dk PlaymatE had made with his Broodmother on the bottom lane, and began a slow but sustained siege of the Dire base. The tower there finally fell six minutes later, and Quantic were forced to make two buybacks to defend the barracks, however, the advantage for DD. was evidently too large at that point. With the Radiant's dominance snowballing out of control, Quantic called "gg" shortly afterwards.

Both teams attempted to replicate a similar strategy from the ones they used in the first game with their picks, but with Quantic managing to draft Morphling - a signature hero for us Korok - DD. faced an altogether different challenge.

In the early game, both teams focused on controlling their lanes rather than rushing to push towers, giving rise to a more cautious atmosphere as everyone attempted to avoid team fights. However, the wind was in Quantic's sails, as they dominated their lanes and took plenty of kills almost never with a loss of their own.

Finally, in the 30th minute, Quantic capitalised on their significant advantage, pushing into their opponents base as a team, and crucially taking down DD.'s Brewmaster nice and early with burst damage, to take the bottom barracks with ease. Unable to recover from that clash, DD. waved the white flag, sending the Grand Final into the third and decisive game.

Both teams changed their plans for the final game, with DD. favouring a cautious style utilising Area of Effect damage in conjunction with the tried-and-tested power of Antimage, whereas Quantic's line up was geared towards pushing and ganking with the use of summoned and dominated units together with burst damage.

The early game proved to be an even and passive affair, with neither team able to gain any significant advantage over the other, but DD.'s dk AngeL was able to freely farm with his Antimage on the bottom lane. However, as the game progressed, Quantic began to force team fights in which they knew they would excel, and after killing Roshan in the 12th minute, Korok began to exert his superiority over his opponents with an especially stunning performance using Queen of Pain.

Despite their Antimage farming like crazy, Quantic were able to take the game to DD., with Queen of Pain spearheading their attacks. In the 30th minute, Quantic made their biggest breakthrough, taking out DD.'s Tidehunter in a team fight before he could use Ravage and keeping Antimage at bay all the while, before picking him off and destroying the middle barracks.

Only three minutes later, the two teams clashed again with the result being very similar too, and Quantic managed to destroy the bottom melee barracks. Shortly afterwards, DD. caught and engaged Quantic as they attempted to kill Roshan once more, but their intervention was too late. Having taken both the Aegis and Cheese, Quantic wiped out the entire DD. team and marched on to destroy their throne without further resistance, to bring the match and tournament to a close and claim their €500 prize.
