EHOME and TongFu reach settlement
posted by Jaywalker, 1 year ago

EHOME and
TongFu have reached a settlement of fifty thousand RMB for the official transfer of
Zhi Cheng 'PLT' Zhang.
This update puts an end to the controversy surrounding TongFu and PLT's disagreements over the release of his contract, as well as playing as a stand-in without their permission. PLT released a statement after getting punished by TongFu, revealing his sufferings at the club. However, TongFu responded timely and dismissed all of the claims.
In an interview with 178.com, TongFu team manager
CuZn revealed that both clubs have reached an agreed settlement, and PLT is now officially a player for EHOME. Only questions related to the controversy and TongFu's new lineup are translated.
Thank you for accepting our interview. The problems with PLT's transfer is finally near conclusion. What were your final decisions?
Firstly, EHOME will officially and publicly apologize to TongFu for the PLT transfer and stand-in situation. They will also pay PLT's contract waiving fee and fines of fifty thousand RMB. TongFu player PLT will be transferred to EHOME for zero transfer fee. Secondly, PLT will publicly announce his apology regarding his whole controversy and its negative impact on TongFu and ACE (Association of Chinese E-Sports).
You mentioned before that PLT's transfer fee was one hundred thousand, why is it zero transfer fee now?
The hundred thousand before was to be the contract violation fee should EHOME attempt to force for a transfer. After the recent actions of PLT, we decided that he is doing too much negative harm to both the team and club. Also, EHOME are pursuing the transfer through official channels, and this is the agreement after discussion from both parties.
So who will replace PLT?
Right now we have accepted Awoke, and he has begun training. Maybe it is because he is close with Hao, Kabu and Sansheng, therefore the training results are going well. If nothing goes wrong he will be our fifth player.
Previously you mentioned that you could not contact the management of EHOME, who initiated this meeting?
The president of ACE, King. He personally went to EHOME and talked to their CEO.
Could you share a bit more information about the meeting?
The representative of EHOME, 71 brought PLT to our club and had a meeting with our CEO, TongFu's business manager and I to discuss about the transfer. A ACE representative from iG, director Liu was also present. We discussed for about four hours, but I asked 71 to be excluded for some time as we had to discuss TongFu's internal affairs before resolving the issues between our clubs. The process was smooth, there were no arguments.
What was the reaction of PLT during the meeting?
Initially he was very defensive and explaining his irresponsibility, but after discussing with our CEO he began to realize that his mistakes and finally acknowledged his problems.
Many people are concerned that the so called 'Letter of apology' and 'fifty thousand RMB fines' may not even get done. Is there an agreement regarding the number of working days for this to be completed?
There is a written agreement between both clubs. All this must be completed by May 15th.
CLC's CEO has decided to stop his sponsorship efforts after this whole debacle. Is your sponsors affected as well?
No, our sponsors are very confident to continue.
What gave your CEO such confidence?
A growing industry is always better, the infrastructure of clubs continue to improve, products and E-Sports mutually benefit, and the financial powers of companies.
DK has been invited to participate at The International in Seattle. Has your team communicated with IceFrog?
Yes, IceFrog expressed that he will pay attention to our competitions, and hope we use our efforts and results to earn an invitation.
PLT had mentioned that the original PanDa trio [Hao, Mu, Sansheng] are not interested in Dota 2. What will be your training focus?
Our focus will be Dota 2. They have been training a lot. For example, the club had arranged for them an excursion today, and after the day out they came back and dived back into training Dota 2. Especially Kabu who wakes up early to practice。
How are the trainings looking?
It is looking very good. The team chemistry is consistently improving, and I believe it won't take long for the team to perform.
However, with multiple large DotA competitions coming up this month, will playing both games affect your results?
There will definitely be an impact, as both games have differences. We seek to research different strategies in DotA, and continue gaining more experience in Dota 2.
Since the formation of ACE, the public opinion is that the association has not accomplished much. What did ACE contribute during this transfer process?
The first meeting was held in Shanghai during Nvidia's competition. During that time, EHOME's representative had stated that they do not want PLT. The second time was after the stand-in incident. King and iG's director Liu went to EHOME and communicated with their CEO. The third time is when 71 brought PLT to discuss with TongFu, and director Liu represented ACE. In conclusion, ACE has helped by being a medium between clubs and protecting the rights of clubs and players.

With the agreement, this draws an end to one of the biggest controversies in China. PLT will finally join EHOME, and we will await an official announcement from EHOME regarding their roster. TongFu will continue to train hard with their new lineup and seek to impress and gain an invitation to Seattle.

A very disrespectful way to handle the situation by TongFu.
It's quite obvious that PLT has essentially been forced to act as if all the blame is on his head. And even after that they still drag his name through the dirt?

#12 If you had understood the situation from TongFu's side, you should not say that. Specific contracts were signed, salaries were given out properly even when LaNm refused to return to the training base. The signing bonus wasn't given yet as LaNm didn't went back to base and expressed disinterest to continue in TongFu. By that, he selfishly reduced the chance of Hao and co. getting to The International after making statements such as "It's harder to get to TI with Hao and co." (They personally take offense from this) By forcing a transfer without wanting to pay the release clause, he should feel lucky that this whole thing was settled with such meager amount of money (TongFu is a big food corporation, the money is more of a sign of respect than anything else) and escaped from the initial idea to ban him by the ACE. His image is screwed all over sgamer forums, he deserved this.

1. Start practicing when invites go out
2. Change roster mid invitation process
3. Show no results

As far as it goes business wise, it is not about getting the top 16 teams in the world to compete in a tournament. It is about getting the top teams in each region. As many have said, TI2 is a PR stunt done to pull people into playing Dota2. No matter how poor a particular region might perform, there will always be a representative from it, as long it there is a significant number of potential customers.

Didn't PLT want to leave TongFu because they were going to focus primarily on DotA 1? Now TongFu are saying they're going hard on dota2 to try and get an interntional invite. Hopefully IceFrog doesn't bother with people like this.
