TongFu to PLT: We did you no wrong

posted by Jaywalker, 1 year ago
Chinese club cn TongFu and their player cn Zhicheng 'PLT' Zhang are currently embroiled in a controversy, and PLT has released a statement in response to his punishment for standing in for EHOME during their match yesterday.

TongFu's manager has released an official reply to PLT's statement, and below is the translation of the release.

Regarding contract terms:

Before PLT came, we discussed about contract terms, which is the salarary of 3,000 RMB and a signing fee of 20,000 RMB, to be signed on March 30th. The club's players are all employed under TongFu company's human resource department, therefore they are paid along with members of the company. Salary is paid every month's 25th day. PLT completed his salary card on March 29th, therefore the month's salary was paid with next month's salary.

When you [PLT] first joined the club, everything was satisfactory. However, when you learn about EHOME's reformation, you began to be critical of the club, and we had an argument regarding the salary. You woke up one morning saying that I had betrayed you, I really don't understand how have I done so? Did I lie to you about the agreed salary of 3,000 RMB? Hao and the others also agreed to their salary before joining the club. Everyone getting a 900 RMB living allowance was also mentioned to you guys, and the contract numbers were hand written in by me and confirmed with you guys before signature. Which player would sign a contract without knowing his own salary?

Regarding DotA and Dota 2:

When you first came to the club, you never mentioned Dota 2, and the club had no intention to practice Dota 2.

However, when EHOME announced their reformation plans, you said you plan to go to EHOME, and to play Dota 2. We talked to the boss, and he was very understanding of your thinking, and mentions that since Dota 2 is the reckoned force, why cant we [play]? After this, you, Hao and the others went to discuss and then decided to sign with TongFu. Everyone discussed and agreed before signing the contract (March 30th).

Regarding delay of salary payment:

A few days later, I talked to the manager in private. I said that everyone is obviously more motivated for DotA, but I am focused solely on Dota 2." With your sudden statement, how was the club supposed to proceed? The day that PLT came to talk to me was the next day after 357 announced their move from CLC to EHOME, and the TongFu players and I all knew deep inside what all this was about.

I told him that I personally feel that a better offer and being able to make our country proud is always a good thing. But we are also investing in our club, and as the manager I have to think about the benefits for the investment. Even if you want to leave, it is also a transfer issue between one club to another. EHOME wants you, you should get their person in charge to talk to us. No one from EHOME talked to me, but it was you that came at me talking about how you calculated the days that TongFu did not pay your salary and has violated the contract. If we don't release you, that you will reveal everything about owing salaries and violation of contracts to threaten me!

It is very clear on the contract that the contract is signed on March 30, and violation of contract will only be applicable after two months or more. I want to ask where did TongFu violate the contract? Under the circumstances where you change your mind constantly, how could we give you your signing fee? I have reiterated many times, that if you seek a transfer, please let the clubs communicate, but there has been no contact. In fact, has TongFu owed money to any of our employees? KEKE's salary was during holidays, and because TongFu does not pay salary during holidays the human resource department did not pay KEKE. However it was reimbursed albeit late.

Regarding 'Boss says he wants to keep you, which is to waste you for a year, and make sure you do nothing in TongFu':

As a club, if one player decides not to follow the arrangements of the club and leaves the team on his own accord, as well as the respond that "DotA matches I will not play", what can the club do?

Just like any other legitimate league, if such a player is existent, will the club ask the player to be a substitute player? If players are so casual, will every DOTA team have to pay for 10 players, and have substitutes?

Regarding the club:

I have worked in the DOTA industry for a long time, and clubs that can truly profit are very few. But we all look positively towards the growth of E-Sports, and many people have tried to be part of this. KING [Secretary of ACE] once said "If a club is done well, the players will be well."

This is true, TongFu is sponsored by TongFu food products, and is a company that truly seeks to gain publicity by participating in E-Sports. The club seeks to publicize the brand, and players are secure [with a reliable sponsor]. TongFu's boss once said to KING that if players are worried that salaries may be owed like what happens with other clubs, then he will leave two months of salary money with KING, and that if money for two months is not given ACE can just pay the players.

I remember in an interview a few days ago, 71 said "Players are to completely fulfill the needs of a team." I completely agree with his thought. If every player of every club all have a different thought and different goal each day, then what is the point of a contract? How should a club operate? We are not trying to burn you, but we are disappointed with your attitude and the manner you handled the situation.

At the same time today's official statement says that: Return to the club by May 7th, and punishment will be given accordingly to your attitude and performance. This is granting you an opportunity to provide an explanation to the club. I don't know if you will return to the club to give your reasons, nor do I understand the reasons for speaking those things. TongFu did you no wrong.

There are many reactions to this official reply from TongFu. Why was there no mention regarding agreeing to PLT standing-in for EHOME? What will happen to PLT? What will happen to TongFu and EHOME? What will ACE's actions be? There are many unanswered questions and some may never be answered. Stay tuned as joinDOTA continue to bring you updates of this controversy.

So basically they are not happy with PLT's sudden change of mind, and decided to just keep him for the sake of keeping. PLT even offered a fee to get out of TongFu. Let a man do what he wants!!!.

why do they want him to fulfill the contract but don't pay his signing fee... if he decides to leave and has this 100k waiving fee option, let him do that, its pure money for tongfu! he didnt answer to the stand-in thing, so i'd guess that he gave his conscent to that, so they have nothing on him. if he waives his contract, they can do shit about it normally... he should just go and do it, no matter what. i mean they really screwed him with that 20k, so he should just give them 80k with 100k waiving and 20k signing fee. that way tongfu can look for DotA1 players that are motivated...
