cn EHOME coach Can 'DC' Dong has stated that legendary player Jian 'ZSMJ' Gong would not be joining their reformation. In an interview, DC talks about EHOME's recent additions of former cn CLC trio and ZSMJ.
Hello DC. Was the transfer of the CLC trio (357, KingJ, Dai) due to your efforts?
Yes, it is true.

What were your considerations when you decided to obtain these three players?
The three of them and I have good understanding, therefore it doesn't create conflicts. From the perspective of creating a team, having such experienced players allows for rapid growth. We also thought about having old players bring up new players, but we decided against it as it will probably cost us too many championships, which will be more harmful than beneficial.

It is public knowledge that 357, KingJ and Dai did not perform well last year. Recruiting them shows your faith in them, why do you have such confidence in them?
Past success and failure do not explain the problems, but truth to be told, EHOME is a combination of both success and failure. Twice SMM champion KingJ, killing machine Dai and old aged but consistent 357 all suffered decline in performance just like EHOME did, and it is something that is impossible to explain. We are working together again because we all have the same mentality to prove ourselves again.

357, KingJ and Dai return to EHOME

The three of them had begun to settle well at CLC, how did you persuade them to return to EHOME?
There were a lot of obstacles when we were communicating. In the past there has been conflicts and disagreement between EHOME and these players, which was one of the main reasons for EHOME's disbandment last year. During the initial stages of talking, they were cautious and reluctant, but having mutual goals and the genuine offer from EHOME was able to improve things. The truth is players aren't seeking high financial offers, but an environment that can improve and lead the team to achieve bigger goals. The best paid players in this industry generally come from cn DK, and we have learnt from BurNing and LongDD about their management's high valuation of ethics, discipline and goals. This is probably something that we all need to think about.

What about the other member PCT, what were your considerations when recruiting him?
Last year PCT had no time to train and exhibit himself, as EHOME was in a turbulent period. After the disbandment, PCT had always sought to improve himself and through his improving performance he won critical acclaim from players and clubs. Actually, PCT was the first member we decided on. We hope that he will shine just like how Dai did when he first came into the spotlight.

Now it’s time for the question everyone's waiting for. Who will be the fifth player for EHOME? Will ZSMJ join?
I'm afraid ZSMJ won't be joining us. We are still discussing regarding the fifth player.

That is dissappointing, why do you think he wasn't able to join?
After communicating with ZSMJ, certain complications came about. These issues required both parties to have a lot of trust and positivity, in other words it was a conflict of personal values. We hoped that despite ups and downs we can always count on a stable mindset, and it was the main reason we were not able to work with ZSMJ. In the end we decided to be more conventional...

Has the team decided about the positions that players will take? Or will this be settled when the fifth player has been confirmed?
Certain basics have been decided, but the main things can only be done when the roster is finalized, and it is possible that we will experiment before settling. Finding the right team responsibilities is always very vital and the first stage of success. A perfect example will be the success that came from 820 transitioning from a hard carry to a support.

There is only one more to complete the EHOME roster. Has there been goals set for this year?
To achieve the goals we did not obtain last year, and we hope to greet our good old European rivals and fight in Seattle!

Whilst aiming for first place in Dota 2 competitions, would you abandon DotA competitions like last year?
I am still making suggestions to the club. Compared to top teams, we are still not at the same level, especially regarding team environment and team chemistry,I hope to make reasonable decisions. This issue is still in discussion, and its rather awkward since DotA is still the main game in China.

Thank you for your interview. Do you have anything to say to everyone?
I really like this saying, and will share it with everyone: It’s not about how much effort, it’s about really doing it. Just as obstacles arise, it’s not up to one to decide where one's situation. But justice must bring victory, and victory brings justice.

According to a joint press release by EHOME and CLC, the three players were transferred for a total fee of 100,000 RMB, which translates to slightly less than 16,000 USD. CLC's fate remains unclear as they withdraw from the StarWars7 tournament.
