The Compendium Qualification predictions have been the talk among the Dota 2 community for some time and getting the predictions right may grant up to 750 compendium points! Sadly, today is the day where some of these points will be lost as the Group B favourite, HGT, fails to make the cut. Even some of our casters did not see this coming. What about the other predictions? Find out if it's still possible to claim your compendium points!

Before taking a look at Group B, which is the highlight group of the day, Group A does close as expected. cn EHOME and cn Energy Pacemaker* comfortably sitting at first and second position respectively pretty much as most people expected.

In Group B however, cn CDEC Gaming sits on the throne, with 4 wins and not a single game dropped. Even though their star player - cn Yao 'Somnus' Lu left the team for LGD only about two months ago. His departure doesn't seem to waver the determination and teamspirit in CDEC, as seen in their near-perfect execution in the qualifier groupstage.

Not many people expected that, however we had them on our radar! In our prediction news we mentioned that CDEC could potentially upset the supposedly stronger opposition.

What is even more interesting is how well are cn Team Random* doing. They came into the groupstage by way of Open Qualifiers with many doubting that they will be able to get to the top 4. However, the team delivered perfect plays and strats to claim second position in Group B.

In fact, Wings Gaming have a 80% win rate on their Rubick, when the Rubick win rate of the whole Chinese qualifiers is only at 41.7%. Even when facing giants like cn HyperGloryTeam*, Wings stood their ground, kept their cool, and won the deciding match to secure their second position with a 14-1 score.

Injuly
Some might credit the experience of cn Xiaodong 'InJuly' Yang, who rose to prominence under the LGD banner, and the leadership of cn Su 'super' Peng being the key to their success. But in reality, all the players including those without experience in huge organisations, were able to exhibit the calmness that equal that of a Tier 1 team player.

At the end of the day, it was great drafts and execution from Wings that brought them from a relatively unknown team to a strong contender for a trip to Seattle.

On the other side of the spectrum is HGT, whom many, including ca Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev and us Peter 'ppd' Dager, expected to advance to the top 4. However, they will probably be beating their chests for dropping a game against cn Vici Gaming Reborn* yesterday, for if they had not, second place would likely be theirs instead. cn TongFu*, who were placed 4th at TI3, exit this competition with their heads low as they lost every single game.

Wrapping up the groupstage, the top two teams of each group advanced to a double elimination bracket. EHOME and CDEC being first position in their respective groups will battle in the Winner's Bracket whereas EP and Wings will face off in the Lower Bracket.

The Grand Magus has wings too?

Rubick's stats for China Qualifiers

The hero pick and ban has pretty much stayed the same as Day 1. Undying, Queen of Pain, Shadow Fiend, Clockwerk, Earthshaker and Gyrocopter being the top in terms of times banned or picked. However, one stat really stood out. The Grand Magus Rubick was a popular pickup but teams just couldn't achieve the desired results with the pick, thereby giving Rubick only a 41.7% win rate. But Rubick was picked a total of 5 times by Wings Gaming among all their 8 matches. They only lost 1 match (that was to CDEC), thereby giving them a high success rate of 80% on that hero!

Prediction Comparison

As mentioned, Wings Gaming securing a spot in the top 4 will definitely be a shock to many as even the casters did not foresee Wings to become on of the top 2 in Group B. As for the playoffs, all the casters predicted EHOME to be in the top 2 but only Capitalist has CDEC as one of the top 2.

With the 4 teams confirmed, who do you think will ultimately take
first and second place in the Chinese Qualifiers?
