DreamHack 2012 announces Dota 2 Vengeance Cup
posted by Jaywalker, 1 year ago

Details for the upcoming DreamHack gaming festival has been released, and the DreamHack Dota 2 Vengeance Cup will be back for more action this year. Presented by DreamHack and Corsair, the tournament will run for both Summer and Winter 2012.
The main tournament will feature 16 teams out of which eight teams will receive a direct invite to the play-offs. Four teams will be chosen from the online qualifiers and another four from the BYOC qualifier to be held at Jönköping, Sweden. Beta keys will be given to all BYOC attendees through the online booking system, so players can have ample time to prepare for the event.
The tournament will be boasting a prize pool of SEK 400,000 for both the editions, with DreamHack Summer scheduled to take place from 16th-19th June, 2012.
The list of invited teams will be revealed along with the opening of sign-ups for the first online qualifier scheduled to begin on Friday, 13th April 2012.

The defending champions, mTw.
Our beloved caster
Tobi 'TobiWanKenobi' Dawson who previously broadcasted the Dota 2 tournament during DreamHack Winter 2011 will be providing the live stream yet again for both DreamHack Summer and Winter 2012 from the venue itself. In the previous Vengeance Cup, viewers will recall Wild Honey Badgers upsetting teams such as Fnatic and SK en route to their victory, and sealing a sponsorship with mTw. Could we see the emergence of dark horses again this year?
joinDOTA will keep you updated with the latest information.

45k Euro in total. So 22.5k euro / event. Decent money but will the winner take it all?

SEK = swedish money, i believe it's called "kronor"
1 € = 9,294 SEK
So, doing the math, it'll be something like 43k € for both editions, so a prize pool of around ~20k € for each event. Not bad ^^
