Today the ESL ASUS Play It Cool Dota 2 Invitational brought us our first showing of offline Dota in 6.84, with four top European teams fighting not only for experience in the new playing conditions but also $30,000 in prize money. It was also the first showing for se Alliance with se Henrik 'AdmiralBulldog' Ahnberg on board. Hop inside to find out how the tournament unfolded.

With new patch and the new meta already up and running everyone was curious as to how the Dota 2 meta will look on the top level. The teams are yet to truly explore 6.84 but we could already see some fresh picks and strategies in play.

On the back of strong death ball strategy ru Virtus.Pro* managed to overcome se Ninjas in Pyjamas* in the first two games of the tournament. Even signature Tiny + Io combo from the Swedish squad wasn't enough to stop the Russians as they advanced to the finals.

In the second semi-final Alliance didn't deviate much from their recent style of play still putting se Per Anders 'Pajkatt' Olsson L. on heroes such as Lina and QoP while giving se Jonathan 'Loda' Berg aggressive carries such as Slardar. However that didn't stop the TI3 champions revisiting their roots as Bulldog's signature Lone Druid made an appearance. Alliance easily defeated the underdogs of the tournament - se Lemondogs* (formerly 4FC).

In the finals Alliance took on VP. Despite some creative drafting from the Swedish team the Russians seemed to be one step ahead at all times. Dominating in lanes and predicting all enemy movements got them off to an early lead in each game that they didn't let go of as they saw out the series. As a result VP took the series 2-0 and became the champions of ESL ASUS Play It Cool Dota 2 Invitational.

Final standings

1. ru Virtus.Pro* - $12,500
2. se Alliance - $7,500
3/4. se Ninjas in Pyjamas* - $5,000
3/4. se Lemondogs* - $5,000
