With the last game between se Alliance and ru Team Empire concluded, the D2CL Season 5 group stage has finally ended. Four teams now remain in the playoff portion of the tournament, with two slots up for grabs to the LAN final. Who made the cut for the playoffs? Find out here.

Alliance just short of the cut

The Swedish squad started off with a bang in game one against Empire, crushing the russian squad with a surprise last pick Sven. Sadly they couldn't translate this result into game two as Team Empire returned the favor and steamrolled The Alliance in just little over 20 minutes. This eliminates them as they had the worst head-to-head between se Ninjas in Pyjamas* and by Power Rangers*. This comes as a bit of a surprise seeing as The Alliance have improved greatly over the pass several weeks, having recently qualified for bot i-League #3 and ESL One Frankfurt. It seems as though it wasnt enough to compensate for their poor performance earlier in the tournament.

Pajkatt won't be making a return this season

PR breathe a sigh of relief

PR should be happy to hear that there won't be any tie breakers due to the teams sub par performance. Their performance has been quite lacklustre due to constant roster changes, with ru Akbar 'SoNNeikO' Butaev being the latest player to leave. Reaching the playoffs might give them a chance to improve, but their first match will be against Empire, which is going to be a monumental mountain to climb. It'll be interesting to see if they can qualify this season, seeing as they managed to qualify through playoffs last season.

Four may enter, two will leave

The playoffs will begin on April 20th at 18:00 GMT, with the first match being HR versus NiP followed by Empire versus PR. The top two teams will be joining eu Burden United and cn Vici Gaming at the LAN final with a prize pool of over $50,000. Will NiP and Empire sweep the playoffs, or will PR and HR provide some huge upsets?
