Cloud 9 versus us Evil Geniuses was packed with skillful and innovative play, but EternalEnvy stood out as Man of the Match, setting the pace with smart rotations and clever positioning throughout the series. The C9 captain, showcased his abilities with his signature heroes; Tinker and Drow Ranger.

Man of the Match: EternalEnvy
Post TI stats for Envy Games: 33Average K/D/A:5.2/4.5/5.0Average GPM:522Average XPM: 499Most Played:Drow Ranger, RazorThe first game did not go well for Cloud9, but despite EG taking an early advantage EternalEnvy farmed well on Razor and led the C9 counter attack, participating in the majority of his teams successful rotations.

His early farm managed to keep C9 in the game and at one point cause a suprise turn around. However by this point EG had gathered too much momentum and C9 were forced to GG out at the 37 minute mark.

The second game was almost over before it started as cloud9 snowballed quickly; catching their North American counterparts by surprise. EternalEnvy was instrumental to this success, partnering up with Aui_2000’s Lich on the mid lane to cripple Arteezy’s Death Prophet and top cs with his Morphling. By the end of the game, which only lasted 12 minutes, Envy had topped the Net worth and participated in more than half of his team’s 17 kills.

Envy had another stand out performance in the third game -drafting cloud9’s trademark Drow Visage combo- he proceeded to take advantage of an empty lane and took an early tier 1 tower. However instead of opting for his usual blink dagger he decided to take the fight straight to EG; stocking up on wraith bands and rotating around the map aggressively. The decision payed off as EG buckled under the pressure conceding the game to c9 in only 11 minutes. Despite rotating to both middle and bottom lanes in the remarkably short game, Envy still finished the game with the highest cs.

The final game of the series was EternalEnvy’s most impressive game, playing his signature tinker he picked up his boots of travel in only 7 minutes. From there it was only a stone throw to dagon, and as c9 continued the aggression Envy racked up kill after kill. As the mid game rolled around Envy looked all but unstoppable, maintaining a 4k net worth lead over Arteezy’s Death Prophet. Even when EG managed to stall the game out it was Envy who utilized his global presence to keep the lanes pushed; stifiling any hope of an EG comeback. Envy's tinker finished the game with a 23/6/11 KDA and 459 lasthits (the most in the game).

”pewpewpew” was Tralf’s chosen phrase to describe Envy’s Tinker

What was most striking was Envy's ability to change his usual builds to suit the game. Opting to forgo his usual build in game 3 by buying wraith bands instead of a blink dagger on his drow. He then proceeded to upgrade his dagon before purchasing ethereal blade with tinker in game 4. This flexibility allowed C9 to make the most out of their position one farmer and press their advantage at the appropriate time.

Envy's Tinker was masterful, but consistency was his biggest strength throughout the series and whilst his teammates had their own moments of brilliance; it was Envy who always found farm and utilized his items appropriately. Perhaps his most notable play throughout the series was in the botlane at the 20 minute mark when he -for lack of a better term- pewpew'd EG'S cores back to the fountian; securing an early rax for his team.

With this win cloud 9 have secured themselves at least a second place finish, and will now progress to the final of the NVIDIA 24 invitational. They will face the winner of tonight's anticipated series between Team Tinker and Alliance (check out our preview here). If EternalEnvy continues his solid play Cloud 9 will approach the final as a force to be reckoned with and stand a good chance of walking away with the title.
