It’s yet another setback for the organizers of the World e-Sports Championships, who just a couple of weeks ago faced an unsavory dilemma as both i-league and WEC LAN Finals were scheduled on top of each other and teams could not attend both events at the same time. The European and American qualifiers were scheduled to take place before the LAN event in Hangzhou, China from September 5th to September 7th, but due to the teams still being very much in the state of flux, D8TV had to make the hard decision and call off the qualifiers altogether.
The direct invitees, that now join the qualifying teams from China and SEA/Korea, consists of few of the best teams in the world and while they have all changed their rosters lately - EG, Cloud 9, NewBee & "Mystery Team” pose one hell of quartet for any tournament out there. With Titan edging its way into the mix and three other Chinese teams joining in through the qualifiers it still looks to be one hell of a tournament to kick off the new season.
