Korea is set to get a kickstart for their Dota scene in the near future. Nexon has just announced plans for their upcoming plans for Dota 2. Nexon will continue with the NSL but instead of being the Nexon Starter League, it will be the Nexon Sponsorship League for teams to win sponsorship funding from Nexon.

The NSL will feature three seasons spanning six months of play. Funding for each season is as broken down follows: 100 million Won (~$89,000) for season one, 80 million Won (~$72,000) for season two and 60 million won (~$53,000) for season three. The reasoning behind the dimninishing funds for future season is because Nexon hopes to form more teams at the start of season one instead of later seasons.

Nexon's sponsorship funding will entail of rent for team house, equipment, flights and housings for overseas tournaments. Nexon has also made it known that they will actively seek out companies to continue support for the teams once the sponsorship ceases. Legal and technical support for teams will also be provided.

Due to the type of payout of tournament, teams that won any season of the NSL will not eligible to participate in any other seasons. Teams from 2nd to 16th place will recieve seedings for season they participate in.

Registration for season one will start from the 28th of August. Teams will play in an offline prelimanries until the best 16 teams are determined. This is followed by a group stage play and a double elimination bracket.

Update
