16.12.2012 - SMM Day 3
SMM Day 3

Congratulations to Pacific.Emaxx for their victory! iZone.Gigabyte put up a great fight, especially with that insane Bristleback pick, but ultimately could not withstand the pressure from Pacific. What a great tournament that showed the world that DotA still has much to offer. Personally I hope all the Pinoy teams will be able to transition smoothly to Dota 2, but their passion for DotA will never die. GGWP all the teams that attended SMM and made it such a great tournament!

Mineski is completely crushed by iZone, and will have to settle for third place. iZone has been performing exceptionally well, defeating Orange, Invasion, Dreamz, and Invasion in succession to reach the grand final. Could they keep their hot form up and bring home the championship? The best of three final against Pacific.Emaxx will definitely be an epic series.

It will be iZone that will move up to the loser's bracket final! Despite impressive plays from Julz's Shadowfiend, Joven's Lifestealer was just insanely fat and could not be stopped. Dreamz will have to settle for 4th place, which is somewhat unexpected as they were one of the favorites to win it all. Coming up next, iZone going up against Mineski!

The final day of SMM beckons, and only the best remain. Teams from Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia all tried their best to dethrone the Pinoys, but they had little success. Pacific.Emaxx, Mineski, Dreamz.Ledion, and iZone-Gigabyte are the teams remaining in the competition, and all remaining matches smells of blood. Who will be the ultimate winner? I think it's impossible to rank the teams, but the way Pacific.Emaxx crushed their opponents en route to the grand final makes me favor them slightly. Regardless of who wins, get ready for a day of awesome Pinoy DotA!

SMM Day 2

All four Pinoy teams took every other team out and will be occupying the top four for this year's SMM! Their play has been aggressive and entertaining, and it would be very interesting to see the best of the Phillippines battle it out against each other.

Orange has just sent MUFC down to the lower bracket! Despite an extremely farmed Mirana and Nature's Prophet, MUFC found themselves unable to barge into Orange's base. Several hasty engages saw them lose their substantial lead and the game. Despite a shaky start, Orange (With 3 standins) has bounced back strongly and declare themselves as possible contenders for SMM 2012. Coming up shortly on the livestream is MiTH.Trust vs Dreamz, a game you definitely would not want to miss.

Day 1 of SMM 2012 ended with all the strong teams making it to the playoffs, and the brackets definitely set up some highly anticipated games. Orange vs MUFC is always a treat, and it will be the game that will be broadcasted by Toby and GoDZ. It is unfortunate that all eight games will be played at the same time, therefore some great games will sadly be missed. G7 from Myammar will take on tournament favorites Dreamz, and it will take a huge effort for them to defeat the Pinoys. Either way, expect great matches, more insane Pucks!

SMM Day 1

As the day progresses, more talent gets spotted. Orange vs NJTL was definitely a match that demonstrated some of the undiscovered talents of the DotA scene in Malaysia, with NJTL dominating Orange in the early phase of the game. But the veterans showcased their experience and patience, and eventually proved too strong for the younger team.

First round matches have ended, and there were some interesting results. Dreamz absolutely dominated Orange, with Julz's monstrous Dragon Knight decimating everything. There's no denial that Dreamz will be the favorites in this tournament. There were some other interesting results as well, with Invasion taking down MiTH.Trust despite Lakelz's farmed Anti-Mage. Round 2 has already begun, and I would be looking out for MiTH vs Recovery, as they Thais desperately need a win to stay in the competition. In the mean time, let's hope Toby doesn't mess up the overlay! :D

SMM 2012 starts now(ish)! The groups were drawn and there will definitely be some interesting matches coming up. After speaking briefly to MUFC captain Sharky, he mentioned that the teams from the Philippines are definitely strong favorites. There's no doubt that Dreamz is considered as one of the strong favorites for this year's SMM, with their well deserved victory in the PGF. I myself definitely can't wait for Dreamz vs Orange, where two powerhouses from two DotA loving countries battle it out!
